Everything you need to know about the Stipendium Hungaricum Application

Since the application for Stipendium Hungaricum is open, we collected the most important information you need to know about the process!


Am I eligible to apply?

Stipendium Hungaricum is available for students from over 70 non-EU countries. Check if your country is on the partner list here.

The scholarship is available for BA/BSc, MA/MSc and PhD studies.


What expenses does the scholarship cover?

  • Free-tuition: Yes! The scholarship gives you full exemption of your university tuition fees (for students from all degrees)

  • Monthly stipend/allowance: A monthly contribution towards living expenses (worth 43,000 HUF ≈ €120 per month)

  • Accommodation contribution: You can either choose a free dormitory place or a contribution for your rental costs (worth 40,000 HUF ≈ €110 per month).

  • Medical insurance

When can I apply?

The application period started on 15th November, and the application deadline is 15th January 2022.


How do I apply?

You need to submit your application to Tempus Public Foundation and to the responsible authority of the Sending Partner (Ministry of Education of your country). Each Sending Partner might have different deadlines and requirements for submitting the application material. You are strongly advised to contact the responsible authority at their Sending Partner as soon as possible and enquire about the exact procedures.

In general, you will need these basic documents to apply for Stipendium Hungaricum at Corvinus University of Budapest:

  • Secondary school certificate and its translation to apply for BA/BSc programmes or bachelor degree certificate and its translation to apply for MA/MSc programmes.

  • Proof of language proficiency and its translation

  • Transcript of records and translation

  • A copy of a valid passport, or if you don’t have a passport yet, you can upload a copy of your ID

  • Mathematics exam certificate: Only for BSc Business and Management, BSc International Business and BSc Applied Economics applicants

  • Motivation letter: explain your intentions to study at your desired university, your goals and your aspirations. The letter should reflect on why your desired university should choose you. You can check out how to write an effective motivation letter here.

Important notes:

1. The translations of your documents must be in the language of the selected study programme (English) or in Hungarian.

2. Your motivation letter must be a minimum of one page, typed in Times New Roman with 12 point letters.


Please read the Call for Applications, pages 12 and 13 carefully to find detailed information of documents needed during the application.


Make sure your documents are ready by the beginning of January latest so that you still have time to finalise your application before 15 January 2022!
